WHEN MILA TURNED ONE

This is the third opportunity I’ve had to photograph this beautiful family.  Well, technically, this is just the first time as a family – it’s kind of been a before, just before and after series.  So I’ve known Aneta and Ferdi for a few years now, and I was completely honoured when they asked me to photograph their daughter’s first birthday recently.  As luck would have it, her birthday fell on Melbourne Cup Day this year, so her family officially got the day off to help her celebrate.  And what a beautiful celebration it was, surrounded by family and friends and, yes, horses.

The day started off with a little tree planting, of what will become a not so little oak tree.  Perhaps I’ll get to see the tree grow tall and strong, reaching for the sky – much like the little girl it was planted in honour of.
And then they partied away at Living Legends – the perfect place for a first birthday on Cup Day.
It was a beautiful day, celebrating the life so far of a most beautiful little girl. And it couldn’t have been more perfect.
Happy Birthday little Mila. You are one. You are beautiful. And you are just perfect.
