VENETIA AND YONG. FOREVER.

I’m going to be upfront here, especially for those whose weddings I’ll be photographing in the future.  If you’re going to look beautiful – no, beyond beautiful, if you’re going to be deliriously happy, yet somewhat anxious at the same time, because your big day has finally arrived, if you’re going to gasp faintly, but loud enough for me to hear, as your bride-to-be walks in the door, if you both blink back the tears as you catch sight of one another, if you reach for the other’s hand as though you intend to never let go, if you fight to compose yourself and keep your emotions in check as your partner vows to love, honour, cherish and protect you for the rest of their life, if you’ve just created the most beautifully heartfelt and sincere moment that’s drawn everyone surrounding you into your love, then the odds are I am going to cry at your wedding.  Regardless of whether I have a big fat camera stuck in front of my face and am struggling to see for the tears that are etching a path down my cheek, dragging mascara with them, and fogging up my viewfinder along the way.  And I’m not ashamed to admit it. Slightly embarrassed maybe, but never ashamed.
I love love, and I love seeing it willingly and openly expressed between two people who plan to live out that love. Forever. That’s why I’ll probably cry at your wedding, just like I did at Yong and Venetia’s, as they pledged an eternity of faithful togetherness.  But that’s me, and if you’re happy for me to shed a few tears while I shoot away, capturing those special moments with a heart that you’ve both stirred up, just like Yong and Venetia, then all’s good.

Because I’ve mentioned them twice now (though the whole post has been about them, just between you and me) I need to say what an honour, and absolute joy, it was to photograph their wedding recently.  And not just because they made me cry. But because they were beautiful, they were sweet, they were tender and honest, and they were everything young love should be.  How blessed are they that they’ll be able to grow old together, with a wonderful love to lead the way.  Thank you, guys, from the bottom of my heart. With each and every (joyful) tear.

Please forgive me guys for posting one more than I said I would, but you’re just too beautiful to hide away. And these last two were so much fun I just couldn’t seperate them.  Thanks again for a truly memorable day.  And thank you, seriously, for making me cry.
