SUMMER | PHOTO A DAY | SIXTEEN

There’s a moment of sadness in our house each morning, right about the time we finish waving daddy off for work.  As it dawns on him that he has 11 daddyless hours to get through a cloud of sorrow passes over his face, with perhaps a bit of worry mixed in.  And then he spies his train set out of the corner of his eye and all is right with the world again.
But he sure does miss his daddy when he’s gone.

And Alicia-Rae?  She just carries on with life, bouncing around from one thing to another, until she hits that proverbial wall in the middle of the day.  At this stage she will take herself off to her little pink couch, put the TV on, and simply chill for a while.  Every now and then she’ll accidentally fall asleep, but never when I could do with a rest myself.
Here she is watching Babe, which we picked up at the op shop around the corner on VHS.  Yes we still have one of those old relics, but we can’t bear to part with it because the kids seem to get the most entertainment and value out of the antique (read classic) tapes we score from various places.  And it stops them watching stuff over and over and over because they don’t have the patience to wait for the tape to rewind, and move onto something else.

And, yes, my daughter is still in her pyjamas at one in the afternoon.  Another reason to wish I was three again.
