There are any amount of ways of looking at any given situation, and it’s amazing how different your viewpoint can become by simply switching your perspective. That’s Alicia-Rae’s current philosophy anyway. Her position of choice these days, from which to watch the world pass by, is hanging upside from the side of the sofa. From there she’ll watch tv, eat her lunch, have a play-date with her barbies, and annoy her brother. And when she’s done she’ll simply flip her legs over her head as if she were mid layout backflip. I will get a video of that move one day – it’s well worth watching.
Jaedon’s photo for today had been in mind for a week or so – and it was a nice feeling to know I had at least today sorted. Every month or so Matt and Jaedon go off for a bit of Father Son time and get their hair cut together. Today Alicia-Rae, my camera, and I tagged along. I took a handful of photos, even going so far as to bunch myself up under the mirrored bench to get everything in the frame. I know no shame when it comes to getting that perfect shot. And I walked away happy with what I’d got.
But then this afternoon, while I was playing with Alicia-Rae, I noticed that all had gone quiet. Anyone who has kids, young or old, knows what that generally means. I put my best stealth feet on and tiptoed around the corner, and sprung my little iPhone thief in action. Jaedon was banned from using my iPhone a few days ago, for resetting my fully completed game (with 3 stars in each scene even!) of Cut the Rope. For the third time. But, naturally, I had to take a photo first – and then I confiscated my phone back. I mean, could you have resisted taking this shot?
I chose to use this photo because it was unplanned, and much more telling of who he is than a photo of him having his hair cut.
We can do that again any ‘ole day. In another 4 weeks or so, in fact.
Tomorrow is Jaedon’s birthday. He turns 5, but he thinks when he wakes up he’s going to be all grown up. Just like daddy. Good thing the only full-length mirror we had in the house is now broken. He can be any size he wants tomorrow.
