SUMMER | PHOTO A DAY | DAY 7

I always said to myself, long before kids were even in the picture, that I would be the type of mum who, when it rained, would give herchildren an umbrella and a rain coat and encourage them to go out and play.  To jump in puddles, to lift their faces to the sky, tongues stuck out to catch the drops as they fell, and to be oblivious to the clothes clinging tighter to their skin the more water they soaked up. And for the most part I’ve succeeded – at just the sniff of rain Jaedon will abandon even his beloved train set and head outside quicker than I can put the coffee machine on.  There is nothing more delightful than his sweet little face, illuminated with innocent joy and excitement, looking at me to share the moment, and the fun, his twinkling eyes often beckoning me to join him.  Mostly I’m happy to sit with my coffee and watch, remembering the moments of my childhood that seemed, at the time, to be the whole point of living.  Maybe next time I’ll join him, and make some new memories.  And live like rain was made for dancing in.

And, of course, when the rain has passed what better place to be than snuggled up on the couch with a good book.  And if Nanna’s around? Even better.  Nanna’s make the best reading partners.  And often the most patient.  🙂

And because my daily photos aren’t complete without an out-take or two…

Hope you’re enjoying 2011 so far.
