Not too long ago I had the most wonderful opportunity of spending some more time with the most gorgeous couple, Aneta and Ferdi. Almost two years ago (wowsers – that long?!) I photographed them as they spent their first wedding anniversary together, reaffirming their wedding vows. It was one of those moments that was just honestly beautiful.
Fast forward to not too long ago, I was super happy to yet again have the chance to capture them and their love for one another – in perhaps one of the most exciting and unknown stages of their lives.
For those that have been following my blog for a while, you’ve probably never seen me post maternity images – that is, portraits taken in the late stages of pregnancy. I’m trying to think hard as to whether I’ve ever actually taken any. Well, any that haven’t involved myself, a tripod and a remote control. To be honest, I’m not sure it’s an area of portrait photography that’s really grabbed my interest until now. But what’s got me genuinely excited about this type of photography session is not so much the pregnancy, but the relationship between the couple involved at this remarkable point in time. Between them, they’re about to bring a new life into the world. And it will change them forever. They’re at a point of hovering between everything they’ve ever been and shared and everything they’ll ever experience from that moment on. How absolutely incredible is that!
So that brings me back to Aneta and Ferdi, who were at that awesome stage of life when I met up with them (though many a woman will argue they feel anything but awesome come 36 weeks pregnant). And despite Aneta’s protestations that she wouldn’t make a very good subject – she was perfect. They both were. Beautifully and totally in love, and eagerly looking forward to meeting their little daughter. And that’s exactly what I wanted to capture. I hope I did them justice.
And do you know what’s even more special about this post? I had it lined up and ready to go this evening anyway, but this afternoon I received a text to let me know that their baby daughter made her way into this big, wide world this morning. A couple of weeks early, but right on time. 🙂
Congratulations Aneta and Ferdi. My warmest wishes and love to you all.
