I must have done something really good in a past life to deserve the kind of job I do. I get to see love shared in all shapes and sizes – between couples, between friends, and between family. And sometimes, when I’m really lucky, between all three. Eva’s recent birthday celebrations was one of these sometimes.
I was first contacted by Eva’s godmother, who lives in Sydney, about being there to capture Eva’s first birthday party, combined with a family portrait session before the celebrations kicked off. Asmita is the kind of godparent and friend that everybody needs – I’ve put in a order myself for one just like her. And as I met up with her, along with Nicole, Eric and little Eva, and watched the day unfold, recording it as I went, I felt blessed that I was able to share just one Sunday afternoon with such a loving, honestly beautiful, giving and connected family. It was as much a celebration of simply being together as it was of Eva’s first birthday – though she was definately the star of the show. And a divinely pretty one at that.
And as I munched on my musk lolly favours on the way home I felt happy. Really happy to do the kind of job I do, and to spend time with the people that trust me to. I must have done something pretty amazing in a previous life to deserve this.
