I first met Caitlin and Rich when they came out to visit my just built (and yet to be decorated) little studio, quite some time before their wedding was due. I remember feeling almost giddy after they left, and not being sure about whether it was because of my newly christened meeting space or the thought of having such a gorgeous couple to work with. Time has proven, over and again, that it was well and truly the latter, as infatuated as I still am with my studio.
Caitlin and Richard are both some of the most genuine, welcoming and generous people I’ve had the honour of getting to know – making sure to include me in all the steps along the journey of their wedding preparation, and sharing the excitement with me as the little details fell in to place. There wasn’t a moment along the way that I didn’t feel a part of their plans, integral to how the day panned out, and even just feeling they were as excited to have me there as I was to be able to be a part of it all – and for a photographer that’s a pretty big deal. Of course, by the time the day rolled around I think I was just as nervous as they were, possibly even more so. And again, there was that giddy feeling inside of me, but this time it was just what it was – excitement for two people who’d come to make me feel much more like a friend than someone there to merely do a job. I was incredibly happy for these two people that I’d come to know, and adore (and if you know Caitlin, you’d know she kind of makes it hard not to), along with their furbaby Marlii, and was wishing them a beautiful day with all of my full-of-joy heart. And I know I can’t take the credit here, but that’s exactly the kind of day it was – beautiful in all the ways I’d imagined, and as real the love and respect they have for each other and those dear to their hearts. And that’s a lot of people, because they have pretty big hearts.
So, you gorgeous two – thank you from the bottom of my heart for choosing me and trusting me, and including me in the details and the moments of your forever day. And for your generous, beautiful hearts.
And happy forever, ever after.
And a big thank you to Dannii for shooting with me on the day, who always rocks it and for which I’m always super grateful.
Narrelle xx
(And for those I know will ask: the ceremony and reception were held at The Little Church at Spring Hill Peony Farm, in Spring Hill (not too far out of Kyneton, Victoria). Such a perfect place, and I can see why Caitlin was so excited to find it.)
