AND ALL WAS RIGHT WITH THE WORLD

Two weeks ago today, on a day that started out very much like today, Tanya and Jon got married.  The sun was shining, the birds were singing and, as my mum would say, all was right with world.  As the day progressed, all the things that were right with the world still stayed that way – in fact some parts of it got infinately better (just ask Tanya and Jon) but the weather kind of went to pot.  The sun stopped shining, and the birds took cover.  The fog rolled in, the fog rolled out. The heavens opened, and spent themselves. Then the sun came out again, and this time brought her friend Mr Double Rainbow along. Then the sun crept slowly away, leaving a wonderfully happy newlywed couple, who were grateful for that day, whatever it held, and who could most certainly say all was right with the world.

Jon and Tanya’s was a beautiful wedding.  I often make fun of myself and my ability to cry at weddings, without notice or warning.  I did shed a few tears on this day too – though a good deal of them were tears of joy and laughter.  I don’t think I’ve ever heard a groom’s speech so simultaneously heartwarming and hysterical.  Me and my tears were in our element. But there are certain weddings, in all their simplicity, that are full and rich, bursting at the seams with a sense of love, and family, and friendships.  This was one of them.  They could have held their wedding in a cave, and still found it lit with the essence of who they are, and what they were celebrating.

Thank you Tanya and Jon, and family, and friends, for allowing me to be amongst you, and experience what real love and life is about.
