Wow – only 30 days to go!
Yep – it’s that time of year again. We’ve got a bit of a tradition happening in our house (as in most, it seems) of putting the christmas tree up on the 1st of December, so tonight was the big night. Alicia-Rae sat bewildered in her chair, draped in the tinsel we’d wrapped around her trying to get her into the festive spirit (it didn’t work…), while Jaedon was into it full swing. It was so much fun to watch. The best fun he was having was with daddy’s santa hat, which was just a little bit too big for him. We made a big game of asking ‘where’s Jaedon’ every time his head disappeared underneath it. He thought it was the funniest thing ever, while I marveled at how cheap and easily entertainment comes to nearly-three-year-olds.
Not so long ago I taught Jaedon to (gently) catch ladybugs from the overgrown and gone to seed parsley bush in our back yard. For some reason it’s the local hangout for the little red creatures, and Jaedon spends half his days out there now hunting for them (and, man, has he got good eyesight). So Alicia-Rae, wanting so much to be like her big brother, also goes a-hunting. She often catches them too. Well, she believes she does – so we play right along with her. But I could easily sit and watch her little face for hours as she earnestly searches for them, and looks up to watch how Jaedon does it. It’s such a wonderfully precious stage of life.
