SUMMER | PHOTO A DAY | DAY THIRTEEN

Some days don’t go as planned. And some days there just aren’t any plans. Or motivation.
Yes – it was one of those days. The kids were over photos, and I was over trying to take photos of kids that were over it. So we packed ourselves up and went for a swim at Nana and Papa’s instead. I pulled the camera out afterwards, in sheer determination, and whilst my little subjects weren’t chomping at the bit they were cooperative, giving me a brief little piece of themselves to treasure.

Serious as Jaedon’s photograph is, I do love it.  I see so much of myself in him, and I guess that’s why he gets me.  He knows just when I need a hug, a sweet smile, a spontaneous getsure of affection.  And I love him so very much for that.
And Alicia-Rae? Well, she just is.  She’s constant, faithful, crazy, determined, and just like her daddy.  She’s my little rock.  And I love her for that. Very much.

I finding this project is becoming not so much about the photography, but about the kids.  What they’re teaching me about myself, what I’m learning about them, and how very glad I am to have them in my life.
