SUMMER | PHOTO A DAY | DAY TWELVE

In a moment of needing something to do, a couple of days after Christmas, we bundled the kids up and took them swimming.  Our local pool has been closed for the last 2 years, undergoing refurbishment, and when they re-opened recently it was with all the bells and whistles, and waterfountains, slides and water guns that you could possibly imagine.  The kids had a blast, spending most of their time on the slide that was shaped like an open mouth, whooshing down and along it’s tongue, trying not to bomb the smaller kids gathered around the drop-off zone.
Here at home, we have the saddest, smallest excuse for a pool – the kids having outgrown it at least two years ago.  But it’s not likely it will make it to the curb for hard rubbish collection without the kids spotting it and demanding we bring it back in, so I guess we’re stuck with it until they move out.  And now, having had a taste of the awesomeness of the tongue/slide, the kids have decided their pool isn’t complete without their own version. On several occasions they’ve almost been catapulted over the edge and into Juby Rabbit’s house, but try convince them the risk isn’t worth it.  Try and convince any boy of this for that matter.
And for some reason, I guess in case she should go under, Alicia-Rae insists on wearing her goggles. And insists on me telling her how cool she looks.  I make the most of this, because I know one day she will realise you don’t ever ask your mother if you look cool.

And because this moment didn’t quite make into the Photo a Day collection (I was too busy taking video) I just have to say how proud we are of our little boy.
Training wheels? Who needs training wheels….
