As we walked around the city, Christie and Tom looking like any other bissfully happy newly married couple, every other person stopped to congratulate them. Christie took it all in stride and thanked them for their well wishes, clearly enjoying herself. Which is just as well because it would have been too much work explaining to each of them that, despite appearances, they weren’t actually married.
Christie and Tom had graciously agreed to play dress-ups for us, in perhaps the most extreme sense of the word. In return for a copy of the images, and for the sheer fun of it (for Christie more so than Tom) they had agreed to be models for a Bridal Session that good friend, and fellow photographer, Amy and I had planned. The initial idea of the shoot was to capture some images in situations that brides wouldn’t normally put themselves on their wedding day, mostly for fear of getting their dress dirty, or possibly torn (though not likely). Unfortunately we had to let go of our original idea due to lack of light and the freezing Melbourne weather, but we do hope to have another go at it once the bitey cold winter has passed. So we bravely wandered the streets of Melbourne instead, going where inspiration took us, and nearly getting arrested for jaywalking in the process. Thank goodness for police that don’t have the heart to chase a bride on her wedding day. 🙂
I was really, really happy with the results, largely due to the effort of the wonderful people that teamed up with Amy and I. The make-up artist, hairdresser and florist all donated their time and talents, and there was certainly a lot of talent involved. I am so grateful to have had the chance to work with such wonderful people, who I can confidently recommend to future brides.
I can’t wait for the next Bridal Session now!
And I have to say, publicly, just how fabulous Tom and Christie looked – they didn’t scrub up too bad at all! Actually, Tom is very aptly named as there were several occasions throughout the shoot that I was struck by his resemblance to a young Tom Cruise. Can’t complain about that now, can I. And I think Tom deserves a heap of kudos for actually being brave enough to do the whole dress up and pretend he was married thing. How many guys wouldn’t be totally freaked out if their girlfriends asked for that kind of favour. My dear husband certainly had a lot of respect for him.
Enough from me. Here is the evidence of a great afternoon, shared with beautiful, talented, fabulous and generous people, whom I hope to cross paths with again one day soon.
