POTD | DAY 19

Taken at 12:07 am this morning, this photo technically qualifies as having been taken today.
Daddy was working intersate the last two nights and my sweethearts decided they’d ‘sleep’ in the big bed and keep mummy company.  I use the word sleep loosely as I’m not sure there was much of that going on for the first hour or two.  Replace it with the word giggle, scream or even bounce and you’d probably be closer to the truth. Much closer.  Needless to say, at about 2:07 am in the morning at least one of them went back to their own bed, quite happily.
I think even she was over the novelty of it.

Day19

I have to smile at this photo though – not simply because they’re adorable and they do that to me, but because this is probably the only time I’ve seen them sleeping in a remotely similar position. In sleep their personalities are revealed in their purest forms: Jaedon lays neatly, like a soldier, arms straight at his sides, blankets tucked just so under his chin.  He looks peaceful and sweet, and barely moves all night.  Alicia-Rae looks like she’s thrown herself into unconsciousness, her arms and legs a tangled mess amongst her thrown off bedding, and she rarely stays still longer than a few minutes. She always appears as if the exhaustion of the day has finally caught up with her.  And whereas, when in bed with me, Jaedon will spend the night with his legs wrapped around my waist and his head tucked under my armpit (at least he gets some sleep), she can’t bear to have anyone touching her.  Even in her sleep she’ll whine with annoyance should we digress into her zone.  And given her thrashing about it’s a pretty big zone.  Hence why she was happy to go back to her own bed.  I think she decided keeping mummy company’s not so much fun. A girl needs her sleep after all. In restless, chaotic peace.

(Just had to add a little note about how much I love the 5D MKII – how else would I manage to capture such a sweet moment, in a room so dark I couldn’t see to focus (I think I did a pretty awesome job under those conditions..  😉 ).  For those that like the technical details, this was shot at 25,600 ISO, f- 1.4 and ss-1/4.  Love!)
