“Four weeks ago my family travelled up to our lodge at Mt Hotham to celebrate my mums 60th birthday. It was the first time we had all got together since the arrival of the 6th and 7th grandchildren earlier this year. Getting 5 sisters with little ones in tow in the one place is no easy feat. We were lucky enough to take our family photographer along for the weekend to capture some beautiful family pics. Narrelle has become a part of the family and we have been lucky enough to have her photograph our wedding, our first year anniversary featuring baby bump #1, Charlie Bear as a baby, and our family photos 2 days shy of our second wedding anniversary (along with other babies and weddings in the growing family brood). Thank you so much Narrelle, you are truly amazing and we are so lucky to have you in our lives.”
Carolyn shared the above on her Facebook page, not long after I shot their session below. My response was that I should be the one thanking them for having me along for all those beautiful milestones, and for always making me feel so at home amongst their family. I should also have added how much it means that they trust me with these moments and how excited I am for them as I watch their journey together unfold and their lives and hearts expand. I’ve said it a gazillion times before, and will no doubt say it a few more googillian (as my kids like to say) times, but I really am so lucky to have people like these guys in my life, who live life with intention and are open-hearted and generous in all they do. And who are as besotted with orange as I am – they’re the best kind of people. 🙂
And, seriously, how awesome is this mama – who didn’t even flinch at my suggestion of hiking a mountain ridge while wearing their ten month old boy so I could take a few photos. Like she does it every day before breakfast! (Which wouldn’t surprise me btw Caz… )
